Local Government

We have been providing assurance, performance and investigation services to Local Government since 1985, when we started as the NSW Internal Audit Bureau. As a result we have an excellent understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Councils today.  We build strong internal audit partnerships, conduct quality investigations and deliver highly regarded performance improvement projects.  We are recognised as trusted partners who contribute shared learnings and independent insights to each of our Council clients.

Some of Centium’s Local Government specialists have come from Councils - they include former Chief Executives and General Managers, Governance specialists, Internal Ombudsmen, Finance Managers, Corporate Planners, Policy Managers, and Community Engagement practitioners. Having come from Council, they understand Council.

We have also worked with Local Government Associations, University bodies and State Agencies on Local Government capability, assurance and sector-wide policy projects.

We are approved suppliers on Local Government Procurement Panel LGP-218 for Internal Audit and Management Consulting services. We are also approved Code of Conduct Reviewers, Internal Auditors and Workplace Investigators for over 100 Councils and ROCs, making it easy for Councils to engage us.

State Government

Our origins are firmly established in the Public Sector and we now provide a diverse range of services to numerous State Government agencies, in NSW and nationally.

We have deep knowledge and understanding of the Public Sector ethos, regulatory environment, risks, systems and business processes. We bring fresh perspectives and the skilled resources needed to help our clients extend internal capacity. We deliver outcomes that reduce business risks and improve process efficiency, effectiveness and value.

Our management team has collectively many decades of senior executive experience within State Government agencies. Our staff and consultants are professionally qualified, and have a mature understanding of governance, management frameworks and business operations, especially across the Public Sector and other related business sectors.

Australian Government

Centium (and its predecessor agency IAB) has established itself as a trusted supplier of audit and assurance services to the Australian Government since 1985. With a strong foundation in the Australian Public Sector, including State and Local Government levels, we are well-equipped to support your independent risk management and assurance needs.

Our staff hold national security clearances and have extensive experience working across Australian Government agencies. This allows us to provide comprehensive services that are cognisant of your operating environment while ensuring your sensitive data needs are protected. We work closely with many clients to identify and mitigate risks by enhancing their capacity, people, processes and technology.

Our work aligns with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and regulatory requirements, as per the Information Security Manual and ACSC Essential Eight. Health Sector

Centium’s team members have been delivering internal audit (including IT audit and advisory projects), risk management and performance improvement reviews in the Health Sector for over 20 years.

We have wide-ranging experience providing co-sourced and/or outsourced internal audit services to front-line services, lead agencies, specialist health agencies, health corporate services, and related health services (including Health Care Complaints and Mental Health Commissions).

We have also delivered probity & procurement advisory services and an extensive array of ethical conduct training and Code of Conduct reviews and investigations to our Health Sector clients. These clients include Health Lead Agencies (Ministry), Local Health Districts / Services, Specialist Health Agencies (Pillars), Primary Health Networks and Health Corporate Services.

Higher Education

Centium has considerable experience partnering with Higher Education and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), including Universities, TAFE Institutions, and State Government higher education providers. 

As such, we understand higher education and research as a diverse business, including related recordkeeping and business continuity complexities. We are also cognisant of the “human” issues associated with the provision of higher education.

We have undertaken a broad range of reviews in this sector, including IT and cyber security, revenue management, student wellbeing and safety, offshore learning, staff allowances, space utilisation and management, scholarships, and procurement. In addition, the Centium team has experience conducting fact finding engagements and investigations within the higher education sector.

We also have a proven track record providing independent assurance over university grants.  Our qualified financial auditors are regularly engaged to acquit research grants and other agreements to meet the requirements of funding bodies.

Not for Profit

Centium has had the pleasure of working with clients in the NFP sector including: Mission Australia, Lifeline Australia and Lifeline Direct, Barnados Australia, Endeavour Industries, Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, St Vincent DePaul and many others. We also provide some pro bono services to the sector.

We have also assisted various organisations, including those within the social and community support sector, to prepare for and implement governance and business practices required to meet the NDIA’s obligations and expectations of NDIS registered providers.

Energy Retailers

Centium has been partnering with Energy Retailers to deliver compliance audits that meet regulatory requirements, improve operational efficiency and enhance overall customer experience. Our audits are cost effective, add value and are performed by qualified auditors in accordance with the Standard on Assurance Engagements ASAE 3150.

In previous years, we have assisted several Energy Retailers in ensuring that they meet their obligations with respect to the NSW Social Programs for Energy CodeSuch audits are required annually by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry & Environment.

Centium has had the opportunity to work with several Energy Retailers to provide reasonable assurance that their operations are compliant with Australian Energy Regulator Guidelines.  Most recently, we have assisted a mid-size Energy Retailer to demonstrate compliance with hardship provisions specified in the Guidelines.

Centium is a fully prequalified supplier for the NSW Government Performance and Management Services Scheme (SCM0005).
